Friendly Soccer Field Project

Here is a 2 minute video of Wulana giving a speech on my behalf.

In the northern region of Ghana, soccer is a way of life and the games are more than just for recreation, they are played to honor their communities and tribes. This often leads to dangerous conditions for the visiting club as the spectators often assail the refs and the players on the field.

One of our missions at the GFLP is to unify people through their love of soccer, and to break through generations of cheating and violence. A little over a month ago, we started a project in hopes of achieving this. Having two of the only fields in the area that are built to FIFA standards, Tampe-Kukuo's name has begun to spread throughout the city. So working with the management and the community, we have set out to establish a safe environment for ALL teams to come and use the new fields. When a team arrives, they are shocked to see the welcoming committee that is there to greet them. Wulana, my designated speaker, reads a speech that I have prepared. (See video above.) And after the friendly match the visiting club is presented with a new soccer ball, drinks, and an envelope of money that pays for their travel expenses. The refs are also presented with a generous gift for their services.

This simple act of kindness has created a name for the Gangdu SC and the Tampe-Kukuo community of love and respect. Our hope to unify the people across tribal lands, languages, and religion has begun, and we are so grateful for the results we have already seen. This is just the beginning, and we know that we have a long road ahead to break through generations of discord, but because of your support, nothing will stop this love from spreading across the region.

Thank You All!

We're excited to have you as a part of the GFLP.

Love is the driving force behind what we do.
